Dufour 412 Grand Large
A popular charter stalwart. The Dufour 412 GL offers plenty of comfort, cruising with her is a great experience. The boat is extremely wide (4.2 metres), so you'll feel like royalty on board and inside. We highly recommend this sailboat to families with children, it easily turns into one big floating playground. The Dufour 412 GL is also a reasonably stable, safe and solid vessel.
Some Dufours have a furling mainsail, others have a spar mainsail. Typical of this boat is the large genoa, which works even in calmer weather conditions, and in big winds you can sail it like a race.
Equipment
The model has the standard equipment typical of most sailboats of this type. Usually there is an additional rubber dinghy, fridge, sprayhood (cockpit canopy) and depending on the destination or owner, heating, air conditioning, bow thruster and so on.
If you will be sailing with very young children, we recommend that you ask for baby nets (baby nets) when booking to prevent any potential falls overboard.
Where can you sail from?
On the Dufour 412 Grande Large you can sail almost anywhere in the world. Traditionally, you will find most of these boats in Croatia, followed by Greece and Italy. We offer the Dufour 412 Grande Large on behalf of Altair in Montenegro, Anaho on the French Côte d'Azur or Essengie in Corsica. But you can also explore exotic destinations on these ships, namely Mexico with Le Marval, Curacao in St. Martin, Reload in the Bahamas and Kairos in the British Virgin Islands). But these models are also popular in the Nordic regions, with Havsvale anchored in Norway and Astragale in Sweden.
Dufour Shipyards
This French company was founded in 1964 by renowned naval architect and engineer Michel Dufour. It is one of the most famous charter boat brands ever and one of the largest shipyards in the world. Dufour is based in the world-famous yachting region of La Rochelle, where more than 400 employees are dedicated to the production of yachts on an impressive 18,000 square metres. The local production prides itself on safety and stability, and the emphasis is also on the impressive elegance of the vessels.
Tailor-made for family cruises
Dufour sailing yachts are usually characterised by one completely overlooked detail, the large headsail. They often have a spacious baden plateau, a barbecue and a large cockpit. "Dufours" can be highly recommended for family cruises or quieter holidays at sea. Although their hull allows for fast sailing, they are not racing sailboats. The boats are very stable, they do not go into a roll or spin-out too soon.
The most popular models
In 2018, the Dufour brand was bought by Fountaine Pajot, but the original Dufour brand was retained. The most famous models are the Dufour 390 or the larger Dufour 460 Grand Large. Dufour boats are mostly rented in Croatia, Greece and Italy.
Fountaine Pajot
The so-called "armout" is a matter of the heart for many sailors. One of the most famous French brands of double-hulled yachts is extremely popular on the charter market. Founded in 1974 by Jean Françoise Fountaine and Yves Pajot, it currently produces between 150 and 180 new catamarans (including motor yachts) a year.
From yachtsmen for yachtsmen
The company prides itself on the fact that its designers are passionate yachtsmen. They are keen to follow modern trends, especially in the field of materials, and strive to apply them to the hull and equipment. Fontaine Pajout has enriched the market with a number of patents and innovations, the brand's most famous invention being the injection moulding of material into the hull.
Currently, they mainly produce cruising catamarans, where the emphasis is on comfort and space. Right in the spirit of Fountaine Pajot's tradition of focusing on providing a premium lifestyle while cruising.
The most popular models
Fountaine Pajot's most popular models include the Isla 40, Elba 45 and Saona 47. The company's catamarans can be found all over the world, but mostly in exotic destinations like the Bahamas, Seychelles and Martinique. The reason for this is the low draft.
