Deposit insurance

A torn sail, the side scraped in the marina, a lost fender — these can happen to even the most experienced crews. Sail without the fear of damaging the boat or its equipment and losing your deposit.

What is deposit insurance?

A scuffed boat gelcoat, a clogged toilet, a submerged outboard motor, a broken or upended hatch — these are a just a few of the common reasons for losing your security deposit that you pay the charter company at check-in. The amount typically ranges from €500–5,000.

If no damage occurs during your sailing trip, you get your deposit money back, otherwise, the charter company deducts part or all of the deposit (depending on the amount of damage). Taking out deposit insurance ensures you don't lose your money.

NOTICE: The terms and conditions below apply to insurance policies taken out on or after 1 August 2025. Documents for policies taken out up to 31 July 2025 can be found HERE.
