The destination is one of the most beautiful in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region - 15,000 hectares of woodland, 33 lakes over an area of more than 54 km2.
The Mecklenburg Lakes are made up of more than a thousand interconnected lakes surrounded by forests, meadows or marshes. Maximum relaxation is offered by an ecologically pure natural paradise, which is complemented by the region's functional infrastructure.
The Elde River is navigable for 180 km and has only 17 locks.
Around Schwerin you can enjoy a world of colour - yellow fields of rape, green meadows and forests and red brick houses. The Müritz-Elde-Wasserstrasse runs from the mouth of the Elbe at Dömitz to Buchholz on Lake Müritz. The centre of the provincial capital will tempt you to stroll through its pretty streets. Via the Störkanal you reach the waterway crossing, where you head towards Lake Schwerin.
