Although Burgundy is mainly known for its red wines, you can also taste excellent white wines. These are available in the cool cellars of Tannay. You may be surprised, but the Canal du Nivernais, which connects the Yonne River to the Loire, is one of the most beautiful navigable areas in all of France. It runs through a rural landscape that will make you feel like you're in a fairy tale. This impression is enhanced by the ubiquitous châteaux. The so-called heart of France, as Burgundy is often called, is famous for its Romanesque and Gothic art and architecture, which you can explore up close at Auxerre Cathedral.
Also visit the medieval town of Clamecy and the famous viaduct at Briare. If you get bored of history, get on your bike and enjoy the area from a different perspective. The area around the Canal du Nivernais is perfect for exploring from the saddle of a bike. You can also stretch your legs while surfing on the Baye. The beaches along the Loire, La Charité sur Loire, Sr Satur or Nevers, are a great place to relax.
