From the Vinkeveen base, sail south to join the Amsterdam Rijn Kanaal, then sail north on this canal towards the town of Weesp, where you can comfortably moor your boat at several public moorings. You might also consider visiting the town of Muiden on the Vecht. The magnificent castle here is well worth seeing.

Utrecht is a beautiful city whose canals date back to the 10th century. But the centre is only for the experienced. From Utrecht, head via Montfoort and Oudewater to Gouda. When you've had enough of Gouda, set sail for Alphen and the pearl of the Amsterdam area.
