If you choose a route with start and finish in a place called Banagher you will not be disappointed! Your houseboat cruise will take you between two large lakes, Lough Ree and Lough Derg. Terryglass and Portumna are situated on the shores of Lake Derg, here you can admire a magnificent castle with French gardens. Other history-packed places are to the north in Athlone and Clonmacnois. You'll see the magnificent bridge over the River Shannon at Shannonbridge, which is named after the bridge.
