In Ray-sur-Saône we find a fortified castle rebuilt in the 18th century. Its English gardens are also very beautiful.

The Saône is one of the most beautiful rivers in France with only a few locks flowing through an idyllic, fertile landscape. Here you'll find imposing farmhouses with traditional roofs and masonry or balconies decorated with flowers.

But if you're sailing along the Vosges Canal, a waterway leads you through the Vosges forests with a specialpast birch, beech and hornbeam trees to the remarkable towns of Fontenoy-le-Château and Epinal.

From Dôle to Besançon, the Canal du Rhone au Rhin flows between sloping cliffs and forested slopes.

An impressive 394-metre-long tunnel leads to Besançon, allowing passage under the citadel and a detour around the town.
