From Dôle to Besançon, the Canal du Rhone au Rhin flows between sloping cliffs and wooded slopes.
An impressive 394-metre-long tunnel leads to Besançon, allowing passage under the citadel and a detour around the town. Besançon is a town full of fountains and refined houses. From the quay, there is an easy path to the citadel of the builder Vauban.
