From Argens, the Canal du Midi enters an area with a typical Mediterranean climate and atmosphere. Enjoy local wines, olive groves and great Mediterranean cuisine. In Le Somail, take a drive around the area in the legendary Mythic 2 CV, if you wish turn off at Narbonne. In Capestang, admire the majestic cathedral and castle. After passing through the 165-metre long tunnel at Malpas, explore the town of Colombiers. The cascading lock at Foneserannes separates you from the bustling town of Béziers - one of the largest towns on the Midi and the hometown of the canal's builder. The local Romanesque cathedral gives you a mesmerising view of the surrounding vineyards. Stroll along the Mediterranean beaches, separated in places only by narrow strips of white sand from your fairway, and enjoy the unspoilt countryside around Lake Thau. If you have time to spare, head to the Crusader town of Aigues Mortes.
