It is definitely a very magical region, the legend of Excalibur originated in the Broceliand Forest, the lake is said to be home to and you can visit Merlin's grave surrounded by messages with secret wishes.
The town of Redon lies at the crossroads of the Vilaine River and the Canal de Nantes à Brest. In the town you can visit the boat museum, the Monday markets and, above all, the magnificent Saint-Sauveur Abbey. From Redon you can head to all corners of the world — west to the land of Merlin the magician and Viviane the fairy, to La Gacilla, a town surrounded bymoss-covered paths and moors, and on to the stunning Chateau Josselin, whose 600-year-old towers reflect majestically on the water.
The floral village of La Gacilla is lined with various cafes, restaurants and renowned shops. There is a fishing museum in Malestroit. The Canal de Nantes à Brest is without exaggeration one of the most beautiful ever.
