I have a boat booked for this season but I can’t go, how do I proceed?

If you have a sailing date in spring, contact us and we will find the best possible solution for you. All charter companies are currently allowing you to postpone your trip to another date - the end of summer or autumn 2020, and with most of them, you can postpone the trip by one year, until the 2021 season. We will be here for you to help change your booking, prepare a new contract and, where possible, adjust the payment terms of your boat charter.
If you have a voyage scheduled for the summer months, we recommend that you wait at the moment. Currently, the priority for charter companies is to postpone spring dates. If the situation has still not improved by the summer, we will, of course, be able to change the dates of your trip. But at present, we are optimistic that everything will be sorted out by summer and you’ll be able to enjoy your yachting vacation as planned.

I still can’t choose an alternative date as the crew is unable to agree on a specific date. What should I do?

It doesn’t matter, we will issue a voucher for the amount already paid. You can then redeem this voucher with the charter company at your leisure when you have come to a decision. This will allow you to choose any date and select a different boat (if, for example, there are more members of your crew).

I would like to choose an alternative date with a smaller boat because part of the crew has different plans in the autumn. Is it possible?

Yes, subject to such a boat being available. Alternatively, you can also get a voucher. Again, we’ll be here to help you with arranging and preparing everything.

Can I have the same boat but on a different date?

Yes, if it is available for the date you chose. Or if it isn’t, you can choose another boat.

What if the boat I chose is already booked on the alternative date?

We will help you choose a new, comparable boat and adjust the contract accordingly.

What if the (new) boat I chose is more expensive on another date?

In this case, it would be necessary to pay the difference in price which would be shown as the balance due in the new contract.

What if the (new) boat I chose is cheaper on another date?

Unfortunately, in this case, you are not entitled to a refund in the vast majority of cases, so we recommend choosing a different date or a boat in the same price range as the original rental.

I have booked several boats throughout the year, but I do not want or cannot take all boats in the same time period. What can I do about this?

In this case, we will help you plan the end of this season according to your availability as well as postponing the boat rentals until 2021. We always do our utmost to find the best solution for you. Again we would sort out the spring dates first and proceed depending on how the situation develops.

What if I no longer want the original country of departure and prefer a different destination, is it possible?

For charter companies that have multiple bases in different countries, this is, of course, possible by agreement. We will tell you what your options are and prepare an offer.

Am I entitled to a refund from the charter company?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to cancel the rental and get a refund on the full amount or the deposit paid. However, we can postpone the payment due date, which will be postponed along with the new rental date. If you decide to cancel the charter at your own request, the lessor will proceed according to the standard charter conditions.

When do I have to pay the balance for the boat if I have not paid for the boat yet?

The due date will be postponed just like your voyage. Payment for the boat will be due before you set sail (usually 6-8 weeks, unless stated otherwise).

Will my reservation be cancelled if I do not want to pay the boat balance now?

Yes, if you do not pay the rent for the boat as set out in the contract or if you do not agree on a new date, it is in violation of the terms and conditions and under these circumstances, the charter company has the right to charge you a cancellation fee under the standard charter terms.

As well as making the booking, I also took out cancellation insurance. Can I claim compensation from my insurance company if I cancel my boat rental?

If the booking is cancelled at your request, for example, due to concerns about the coronavirus infection or otherwise related to the spread of COVID-19, this is a force majeure under insurance conditions and so the cancellation of the charter can not be covered by the insurance company. If you have to cancel your rental for other reasons (e.g. health reasons, or due to a situation unrelated to the spread of COVID-19), the standard insurance conditions will apply.

How long will these conditions apply?

As long as the situation requires them to. As soon as everything returns to normal, the standard charter conditions of each lesser will apply again. We are monitoring the situation very carefully and regularly publish up-to-date information on our website.
