Updated information and current coronavirus-related charter terms and conditions (COVID-19). We are carefully monitoring the current situation and will be continuing to keep you up to date on the latest information.
In relation to the coronavirus (COVID-19), we are closely monitoring the current situation and are in close contact with charter companies. We will be keeping you up to date on the latest information and the current situation. At this time, we have not registered any problem or voyage restrictions at any destination.

What do you need to know about changing the charter boat, the date or destination of your sailing holiday?

In response to the situation, most charter companies have been very accommodating. They are offering very generous cancellation conditions or a simple change to the destination or dates, even postponement to the next sailing season. So that you can plan your summer boat vacation without worry.

Currently, the only registered issue is in Italy, where since 10.3 there have been large-scale quarantine measures in place throughout the territory. We are contacting all clients who are scheduled to depart in Italy and are working together to deal with the situation.

What exactly does it mean?

If your place of departure restricts travel or is not recommended (e.g. by WHO), the charter companies usually offer free of charge:

  • a change of dates (postponement of the charter, sometimes even to next year)
  • a completely different destination (subject to the charter company’s availability)
  • cancellation of the charter without a cancellation fee (or for a minimum amount)
When booking a boat by March 31, there is often no cancellation fee or a fee of up to 10%, even if the destinations are not classified as risky.

What can you do now?

Want to know more about your boat and the specific terms and conditions of your charter? Call us or write to us for the latest and most accurate information. The conditions of individual companies vary. We are monitoring the situation closely and will keep the updates coming.

If your date of departure is in several months, it is advisable not to cancel the charter, as there is a risk of up to 100% cancellation fee.  In the meantime, the situation is likely to be resolved and settle down, and in most countries no restrictions apply. If the situation in the country does become more complicated by then, the charter companies will follow the rules stated above and allow for transfer or cancellation for free or at a minimal cost.
