Trawler Yachts Review

Trawler yachts, also called recreational trawlers, are leisure boats that are designed and built to closely resemble fishing trawlers. These trawler-style yachts range from 40 to 120 ft in length. They are not built for speed – more for comfort, and rarely have a top speed greater than 12 knots. The lower fuel consumption of these boats compared with sports yachts has made them more and more popular in recent years. Most trawler yachts have been built with long distance cruising in mind, either regional or even worldwide. Because of this they have large fuel tanks, giving a range of between 1500 and 3000 miles on smaller vessels and even greater distances on larger boats. They can usually accommodate up to eight people on board, and some people have even made these boats their permanent home. One of the common features of trawler yachts is a large engine room, usually sited beneath the main cabin. Most trawler yachts house a single engine, though some builders offer two. Equipment may include a diesel generator of between 5 and 20 kW for domestic appliances, bow thrusters, dinghy cranes, and other similar equipment. Popular makers of these boats are Nordhavn, Grand Banks, Stentor and Hardy. The price of a new boat is going to vary considerably depending on the make and model, but you can expect to pay anywhere from $500,000 to $1 million. Pre-owned boats are considerably less expensive.
