Lagoon American YachtsFounded in 1984 under the Jeanneau boat manufacturing umbrella, Lagoon is a luxury catamaran manufacturer that is well known for producing high quality recreational yachts. In the company's early days, many of the models produced, including the 57 and 55, catered primarily to customers who were looking for private yachts. Yet, after the company premiered the 42 and the 37 models, it became apparent that Lagoon could satisfy charter yacht buyers as well. Lagoon has employed the designs of some successful catamaran sportsmen, including the catamaran racers, Marc Van Peteghem Lauriot Prevost. Notably, Van Peteghem and Prevost were responsible for the design used for two catamarans used in the filming of Kevin Costner's Waterworld. Lagoon constructs their catamarans with the vacuum bag resin process, which allows them to save money on manufacturing costs, while delivering high quality performance in their finished products. What makes Lagoon catamarans unique is the fact that they are manufactured using the design and performance standards and techniques reserved for racing boats, which gives them noticeable speed in the catamaran market. A new Lagoon will start at $500,000 while used models can be purchased starting at $150,000.
