Reviews describe the Island Packet 44/ct as “spacious and accommodating”, which makes it well-suited for “cruising and entertaining”. Indeed, the maker of the classic 26 Mk-II has come out with a big sailboat that is at par with luxury yachts in terms of living quality without sacrificing the sailing performance that made the brand popular. Like older models, this sailboat runs on a Yanmar engine that can propel the boat up to a maximum speed of knots. It can cruise steadily at 6.5 knots. When riding along the wind, the 44/ct can simply unfurl its massive sails for faster movements. Aside from its fully battened main sail, it has roller furling genoa and staysail.
Measuring 44.5 feet, the 44/ct is slightly shorter than the 45/ct. A 13-foot beam only means a spacious cabin. The main cabin has the IP-classic teakwood finish. The main salon has an L-shaped settee to starboard, which also serves as twin berth. A dropdown, foldable table on the starboard bulkhead serves as dinette for both settees. Aft of salon to starboard side is the nav suite, which contains the ships controls, just like the control system found in 420 Cutter. The suite contains the ships electronics such as GPS, radar and Raymarine Depth and wind instruments. Further after is the galley with microwave, sink with pressure water faucet, ice box with top lid, and stove. Forward to the bow is the main stateroom that can accommodate up to four people. Between the forward stateroom and salon is a large head with sink and separate shower stall. A second head is located aft to port accessible from the salon and aft berth. An onboard flatscreen TV is on the port side, along the settee.
