Trawler Yachts Review

One of the factors that have made trawler yachts so popular over recent years has been the high cost of fuel. Trawler yachts are not built for speed, but rather for comfort, one of the reasons why they are known as recreational yachts. These boats are in the 40 ft to 120 ft range, and they rarely have a top speed of more than 12 knots. Cruising at about 9 knots gives trawler yachts extremely low fuel consumption, especially when compared with sports yachts. The design of these boats also allows them to have large fuel tanks, and smaller vessels can have a range of up to 3000 miles and larger vessels can even achieve 5000 miles. These boats are made to be lived in rather than getting from one place to another in the fastest possible time. They usually accommodate six to eight people on board in comfortable surroundings. The trawler yacht’s engine room is usually placed below the main cabin and contains a single engine, though some options have two. Major manufacturers of these boats include Nordhavn, Grand Banks, Stentor and Hardy, and a pre-owned boat can cost between $25,000 and $600,000 depending on the year, the model and its condition. Equipment varies from one boat to another. Extras may include a small diesel generator for electrical appliances, and gear such as dinghy cranes and bow thrusters.
