Racing Yachts Review

Racing yachts are intended to be used in competitive yacht racing. The racing yacht hull is made from fiberglass, steel, wood or composite depending on the water the yacht is designed for. A stainless steel keel fin is typical on these yachts. The most common size of a racing yacht is between 30 and 50 feet. The racing yacht can be custom built in models are up to 100 feet. A CAT 875 hp twin inboard motor usually powers the racing yacht. People who enjoy the style and adventure of marathon type racing and maneuvering around obstacle courses in the waters may enjoy the racing yacht. Though racing yachts can be customized to the owners specifications, the manufacturer attempts to accommodate these wishes without adding additional weight to the yacht. Only a few amenities are offered on a racing yacht so the surface area will not grow beyond the crews actual need and speed can be maintained. The amenities that are offered for the racing yacht will center primarily on the styling of surface areas and required components such as titanium stanchions and plating, visible surfaces faced with teak, and large spray hood/cabriolet over forward cockpit. Beneteau and Southern Cross are both well known producers of quality racing yachts. Used models are available for around $25,000 while newer models run well over $600,000.
