Southport Yachts was founded by a group of experienced boat builders in Leland, North Carolina in 2003. Their main purpose was to create and produce offshore sport fishing boats solely based on using heavyweight, V6 outboards and thus bringing them to life using three dimensional modeling technology. They are designed to fully take advantage of the offshore outboard power, which are typically four-stroke six cylinder engines. Nowadays, using six cylinder engines yield better fuel efficiency, lesser weight, as well as a quieter power board. C. Raymond Hunt Associates is the naval architectural firm that designs and empowers Southport’s vessels. Southport is also a member of the American Global Yacht Group (AGYG).
