SeaVee Yachts ReviewAfter being founded in 1974 by Miami native Capt. Don McGee, SeaVee Boats was bought out and is now privately owned and operated by Ariel Pared, Moises Rodriguez and Ralph Torres. Still based out of Miami, SeaVee manufacturers center consoles, cuddy cabins, and express boats that are designed for blue water sportfishing. Part of the brand's name, SeaVee's deep-V hull designs consist of “an up to 25-degree deadrise at the transom for a soft, dry ride in any conditions.” SeaVee's boats range from 29' to 43', and a popular new model is the 43' 430 Express, which is “designed as a live-aboard fishing boat for 4 adults with all of the amenities found in a modern home.” No matter what size SeaVee you choose, you can expect optimal speed and performance, often hitting top speeds exceeding 60 mph. Also, SeaVee hulls are designed to be lightweight and are, thererfore, more fuel efficient and enjoy an increased cruising/fishing range. Targeting new boat owners with an eye for customization, each SeaVee designed in the factory is based around customer's specs and needs. Endless options include multiple bait wells, triple outboards, hardtops, and tuna towers. The consensus around the sportfishing boat industry is that SeaVee boats are top of the line trophy machines geared towards the serious tournament angler. With huge price tags and highly custom construction processes, they can be an intimidating purchase for anyone new to boating or fishing. PricingSeaVee boats are high-tech vessels, and their prices reflect this. For instance, a 2010 430 Express lists for around $556,750. Even pre-owned SeaVees are expensive. A 2009 SeaVee 29’ Open is $109,000, and a 2009 SeaVee 390IPS Open goes for $420,000. Pros
Cons
Featured ModelsRanging from 29' to 43', SeaVee boat models include center consoles, open boats with either inboards or outboards, cuddy cabins, and the 430 Express. ConclusionEnjoying a home in Miami, SeaVee sportfishing boats are designed for the serious offshore fisherman who is looking to come home with a trophy fish like a marlin or a tuna. Available in a range of sizes, the largest SeaVee (the 430 Express) features a luxurious, low profile cabin, which is rare for a sportfish of this caliber. On the expensive side, SeaVee builds each boat from the ground up according to the new customer’s specifications and needs. |
