Regal Yachts ReviewRegal Boats was founded in 1969 by Paul and Carol Kuck, who envisioned a family business that would embrace their values of excellence and the development of strong relationships with customers that they prized. Their ideals seemed to work, for within two years they were expanding to larger facilities in Orlando, Florida. Their first boats included a 17-foot tri-hull, a 14-foot skit boat and a 21-foot cuddy. In 1995, they launched their trademarked FasTrac hull design, which won several awards for the company, including the International Marine Trade and Exhibitioner's Conference Innovation Award. Regal committed to becoming debt-free in 1989, and went public with international stock options in 1996. While they are a publicly owned company, the second and third generations of Kucks own controlling interest in the company, giving it both the resources of a large company and the personal touch of a family owned business. Regal has won the JD Power and Associates "Highest in Customer Satisfaction" award five times—twice for Small Runabouts (16-19 feet) and three times for Express Cruisers (24-33 feet). They produce 5 total lines of boats: Bowriders (12 different models: 1900, 2000, 2100, 2200, 2300, 2500, 2700, 2700ES, 2100RX, 2300RX, 1900RS, and 2100RS), Cuddies (4 models: 2250, 2550, 2750, and 3350), Deck Boats (4 models: 2220, 2520, 2220RX, and 2520RX), Express Cruisers (4 models: 2565, 2860, 3060, and 3360), and SportyYachts (6 models: 3760, 40 Sport Coupe, 4080, 44 Sport Coupe, 4460, and 52 Sport Coupe). PricingPrices of new Regal boats are hard to come by, and require a converstaion with a dealer to ascertain. Used boats are a little easier to price, and depend on the model, size and year. A used Bowrider, the smallest of Regal's boats, can run from $5500 for an older model to $60,000 for a later model. The SportyCoupe yacht can run from $600,000 to $999,000 for a used model. ProsRegal has been in business for 40 years. It is still family controlled and managed. Its designs have won international awards. It is renowned for customer satisfaction. It offeres several different lines of boats to meet any customer's needs. ConsLack of a listed base price. On the expensive side, even for used models. Featured ModelsRegal introduces a new model every year. For 2010, the newest model is the Regal 40 Sport Coupe, the third in the Sport Coupe line. This is a small, sporty yacht that comes fully equipped with a convertible hardtop and a spacious rear cabin.ConclusionRegal has recently expanded their facilities again; at a time when other boating companies are succumbing to the economy, Regal has just celebrated 40 years of business and is still growing. |
