Ocean Yachts was established in 1977 by owner Jack Leek, who launched the company with a 40 foot sportfisherman boat, which has recently been paid tribute with the 25th Anniversary New Generation 40 Super Sport. However, while the company may seem relatively new, the Leek family has been building boats for several centuries; as a result, Ocean's heritage can be traced back through the Leek family back to the American colonies, and can be seen in the pioneering of pleasure craft in the 1920s, as well as in particular war boats during World War II.
Ocean Yachts is today the world's largest producer of water craft in the 40' to 73' foot range, with craft including the Supersports, Sportfish, and Odyssey models, and which are devoted both to serious anglers and pleasure cruisers. Ocean Yachts has introduced a range of innovations over the years, including yachts that have been able to break particular speed barriers, as well as increased engine size and power, and living spaces designed to be larger than other competitive models.
Ocean Yachts can be purchased new from around $450,000 for a smaller model, while larger models can cost into the millions of dollars range. Used Ocean Yachts can be purchased at a lower cost, although this will vary depending on the condition of the model and the model itself.

Ocean Yachts has a long history in boating, and has developed a range of quality yachts at competitive prices, yet that do not sacrifice quality. Reviews note that while Ocean Yachts vessels lack the over the top design of some competitors' yachts, they offer high quality performance and excellent quality design. Pricing is pitched competitively, falling in significantly below competitors' price ranges, but design quality and power has not been sacrificed in order to do so. Rather, users comment on the stylish outfitting and excellent use of space in the various yachts in the Ocean Yachts range. High quality features and fittings come as standards, and no costs have been cut in terms of providing luxury outfitting and equipment at competitive prices. The Ocean 37 Billfish is one yacht that has been particularly well received by reviewers.
