Morris Yachts Review

Morris Yachts is a family run business coming out of Bass Harbor, Maine. In 1972, Tom Morris opened the doors along with the designing firms of C.W. Paine and Sparkman & Stephens. In 1995, Morris’ son, Culver, came on board to join them. For over 35 years, Morris Yachts has worked to develop sail and power vessels. The company states Morris Yachts has a demonstrated reputation for luxury, performance and value.

Yachting Magazine took the Morris M36 Daysailer out for a spin. According to this article, the Morris M36 has a shallow underbody, large rudder and racy fin keel with ballast bulb. The interior includes a 12-volt refrigerator and Tacktick instruments. Everything you need for a easy day of sailing. In total, Morris currently lists 16 sail yachts in their portfolio. The largest is the Morris 51. 51 is a high-speed, offshore cruiser with accessible class interior and white New England Style bulkheads. It features a forward owner’s cabin with a private en-suite bath.

The Morris Liberty 44 Express Cruiser is one of two power cruisers offered in the Morris line. The Liberty 44 is a 43-footer with Yanmar 480 hp diesels engines, a large forward cabin with centerline double berth, U-shaped dinette, a full-length settee and fiberglass hull. One owner claims the inside, while not made for dockside cocktail parties, will work for a crew spending several days at sea.

Pricing

Yachting Magazine quotes the price of a new Morris M36, before options, at $289,000. The Morris M42 lists for $678,000. Morris offers a brokerage service with pre-owned yachts, pricing averages around $650,000. Some units sell for as little as $250,000.
