Maxum ReviewMaxum is a member of the Brunswick Boat Group, which is part of the Brunswick Corporation brand. The group holds numerous boat manufacturers and was founded in 1845. Brunswick began by making carriages and quickly moved on to billiard tables. Over the next hundred years the company made numerous products including sporting equipment, phonographs, aircraft, and furniture. In the 1980s the company became a major manufacturer of yachts, one of their first brands was Maxum. While Brunswick has headquarters around the world, the Maxum headquarters are located in Minnesota and Maryland. The long life of the parent company and large market share of their boat brands makes purchasing a Maxum a good choice for those who are concerned with continuity of service. According to Maxum, the difference between their boats and those of other companies begins with the Pro System. The Pro System is the term the company uses to describe its quality control process. They pride themselves on finding the best manufacturers of individual aspects of the boat, no matter where they may be located. While they maintain this is done for every portion of the boat, from the carpet to the hull there are a few notable aspects of the Pro System of which they are especially proud. Rigid Matrix Construction is the method they have developed, for all of their boats regardless of size, to help ensure maximum strength. A full-length fiberglass grid is hand laminated into the hull to create rigidity. This and other components are bonded to the hull to finish the process. The same sort of detail is paid to each aspect of the building process, and owners have certainly noticed the difference. PricingThe price of new yachts depends on the model and customization options chosen. The prices range from between $16,000 for some of the smaller models to more than $300,000. Prices for new yachts can be obtained directly from an authorized dealer The price of used yachts ranges anywhere from about $40,000 to more than $200,000. Pros

ConclusionWhile Maxum has not been in the business of building yachts for as long as some of its competitors, the parent company has been producing quality products for a very long time. This experience in manufacturing shows with the attention to details and ability to offer a quality boat for a reasonable price. For those looking for a good yacht and don’t want to pay for a one to be custom built, Maxum is a good choice. |
