Mako ReviewMako Boats is in the Tracker Marine family and was originally established in Miami, Florida more than forty years ago. The company has since been moved to the Midwest with factories in Clinton and Springfield, Missouri. Mako produces fishing boats with models for either offshore or inshore use. Offshore models feature center consoles, ample seating, dual fish boxes, rod racks, swimming platforms and up to a total of 600 horse power from dual outboards. While technically fishing boats, these vessels can do double duty for cruising or other water sports. Owners agree that the modified deep-v hull design provides a much drier ride while keeping up fast speeds to get to destinations quickly. Safety and reliability, even in rough waters has also been touted by the offshore fishing community. Reviewers have found the cockpit to be “extremely fishable.” The console is designed to cater to the captain who wants the electronics and controls in easy reach with the multi-adjustable deluxe captain’s chair. Some models have been thoughtfully appointed with all the amenities for any fishing trip, overnight excursion, cove party or family outing. These cabins have folding dinettes that convert to create spacious vee berthing, additional aft quarter berthing and adequate storage areas. The Mako 284 Express even has a complete galley with alcohol stove, sink, microwave and refrigerator. A stand-up head complete with shower and thirteen gallon water storage tank offers the amenities of home for those overnight excursions. PricingPrices for new Mako models range from $17,000 to $34,000 US for inshore boats and $22,000 to $80,000 US for offshore boats. Used boat models can be purchased for as low as $5,000 US for the late seventies models and around $20,000 for used models in the last decade. Pros
