Lyman-Morse ReviewLyman- Morse Boatbuilding Company is a very well known builder of custom high-end yachts located in Thomaston, Maine. The company has over 30 years experience building luxury custom sailing and motor yachts utilizing advanced composites, fiberglass and aluminum. Lyman-Morse has the ability to complete all stages of boatbuilding and repairs in-house such as: carpentry, mechanics, electrical, rigging and even interior design. The production compound is located on twelve acres of waterfront and consists of 15 buildings, an 80 ton mast crane and a 110 ton travelift. They even have an onsite customer’s apartment for use while repairs are being completed. They are more often known for luxury yachts that are richly appointed for comfortable offshore cruising. Recent boats completed include a 38 foot Mark Fitzgerald powerboat the Augourd Hui and a 98 foot power boat as well as a 62 foot catamaran sailing boat. Each Yacht built by Lyman-Morse, draws on the region’s two centuries of ship building and craftsmanship that is unique to the area. Most of the workers at the Lyman-Morse have a lifetime career of yacht building. In fact, many are third, fourth and fifth generation custom boat builders and shipwrights. There have been some notable yachts built by Lyman Morse, including the Magpie and Wombat, two retro-style yachts with modern touches.
