Kurt Krogen desired to create a yacht company that combined the roaring twenties of the United States and the technological advancements and construction techniques of the modern-day. During the 1920s, commuting to work on one’s yacht was a common phenomenon among the wealthy. Thus, Kurt opened Krogen Express Yachts to fulfill his dream of bringing back the commuter yacht. He enrolled the help of his father, renowned naval architect, James S. Krogen. Kurt and his employees are dedicated to providing superior hull designs and livable accommodations while providing safety, style, comfort, and value on their luxury yachts. Krogen Express wants its purchasers to have a boat in which they can take pride. The company is based out of Hilton Head, SC. The company provides helpful, outstanding customer service according to owners of Krogen Express yachts. Its current owners are John and Betsy Tegtmeyer.

One featured model is the 2008 52’ Krogen Express. Its hull of made of fiberglass and it has a twin diesel engine. The overall length of the boat is 57’6”. The Yanmar engine delivers 480hp and provides a cruising speed of 15-18 knots with a maximum cruising speed of 22 knots. The fuel tanks hold 700 gallons while the water tank holds 370 gallons. In testing, the boat performed as most boats and vehicles perform. As the speed increases, the miles per gallon decrease. At the cruising speed of 15-18 knots, the boat provides one mile per gallon. At eight knots, the boat can travel 1,680 nautical miles. At 10 knots, it goes about 1,050 nautical miles. At 16 knots, it takes you 550 nautical miles. One nautical mile is equal to just over one mile.
