Jupiter Yachts Review

Summary

Jupiter Yachts dates back to 1989. It builds sport and motor yachts. It is celebrating its twenty-first year in existence at the time of the writing of this article. It began in Jupiter, FL and then had to move to Fort Lauderdale, FL to have room for a larger and more efficient building and engineering plant. The plant Jupiter moved into was used by the Black Fin Corporation. The Black Fin Corporation was founded by its CEO, Carl Herndon. He had also served as president of Bertram Yacht. Herndon now oversees the construction of Jupiter yachts. The company is a subsidiary of Jupiter Marine.

Pricing

Jupiter Yachts are six-figure boats. Used Jupiter Boats consistently cost around $200,000. A 2010 Jupiter 38’ described by an owner as in mint condition and fully loaded is on sale for $329,000. The base price for a redesigned Jupiter 31 is $129,970. Additional features could elevate the price to $155,000. A cheaper used Jupiter yacht costs $129,000.

Pros

  • Jupiter boats are good for serious fishermen and day-long family cruises.
  • They have a high resale value.
  • Its owner (Herndon) has lots of experience with building and using boats.
  • The redesigned Jupiter 31 is viewed highly among boat owners.

Cons

  • They are expensive boats, though competitively priced with boats in the same class.

Featured Models

One featured model is the Jupiter 31. Redesigned in 2002 by Herndon, this boat incorporated much of the customer feedback, using it to improve the boat while not taking away the features that characterized previous models. The most outstanding new feature on the 31 is its console design. The instrument panel contains an integrated electronics area. Another featured model is the 2010 Jupiter 31 with forward seating. It is 31’ long and has 250hp. It is designed for the casual and enthusiastic fisherman. Another model is the 2010 Jupiter 38 with forward seating. The hull is fiberglass. It has a 485-gallon fuel tank, 1050hp, and 100 hours of engine life. It comes with a variety of electronic and navigational gear. The Jupiter 39’ Express (39’ long, 350hp) is the newest of the flagship boats

Conclusion

Jupiter Yachts provides sport and motor yachts designed for families and fishermen (both casual and enthusiasts). It is a relatively young company in comparison with other boating companies. However, its boats please consumers. Jupiter seeks to maintain the strengths of the past with cutting-edge, newly-developed technology in its boats. It has an experienced president (Herndon) overseeing and directing the construction of Jupiter Boats. Competitive prices ensure that when you purchase a Jupiter boat, you are getting a good deal on your boat.
