Dover Yachts ReviewDover Yachts went out of business two years ago, and it’s hard to find even some of its used boats for sale today. For a few years before its closure, the company had been pretty small — an article in 2008 said that the company was run by Peter Butler and employed four people. The Ontario-based company was described as a premier aluminum motor yacht builder. It made 70-120 feet boats in a raised pilot house style. It said that it also made custom made boats. All of the yachts Dover Yachts made were built in Canada, but customers from the United States could import them under the North American Free Trade Agreement. Dover Yacht Corporation was based in Woodstock, about an hour and a half from Buffalo, N.Y. Dover Yachts took pride in its vessels, saying that it had on contract Naval Architects Bristol Harbor Design Group from Bristol, Rhode Island. It also said it placed a strong focus on durability, strength and elegance. Today, there’s little information about Dover Yachts, and it’s hard to find them for sale. One article indicates that the owner was struggling with health problems before having to close the business. PricingNo pricing information is available. Pros
Cons
Featured ModelsInformation about models is not available. ConclusionNot much is know about Dover Yachts today. The company folded in 2008, despite the owner’s unsuccessful attempt to try to sell the company beforehand. However, the company’s boats were generally yachts. The smaller ones were often about 70, 80 or 90 feet long, while the longer ones were about 120 feet long. The information on Dover Yachts is scarce and hard to find today. Not only is its Web site down, it’s actually available for purchase. The little information that’s available does indicate that the boats were well made, with fiberglass hulls — a standard and recommended feature for boats today. |
