Alden Yachts Review

Alden Yachts is an American yacht-building company that is often considered to be "America's Boatbuilder". In fact, the company is so well known that the designs of boatbuilder John G Alden have been immortalized in a book by International Marine Publishing. Alden Yachts is located in Portsmouth, Rhode Island, and as a result, the company prides itself on designing and crafting semi-custom sailing and motor yachts that are suitable for a variety of strong and heavy weather conditions. Alden Yachts is a renowned company, and in 2002 received the “All Around Winner” at the Newport International Boat Show. Its yachts have also been successful in events such as the Marion to Bermuda race.

Alden Yachts is known for its innovative approach to boat and yacht design and building, and it has displayed and shown boats including innovations such as a new epoxy composite to improve sailing and power construction. Its boats include a range of power yachts, which fall between 40 and 60 feet in length, as well as a range of sailing yachts, which are commonly between 43 and 73 feet in length. However, yacht building is only one of a variety of services offered by Alden, which also providers yacht brokerage, yachting chartering services, and a number of shipyard and repair services as appropriate.

Conclusion

Alden Yachts remains one of America's premier yacht building companies. The company persists in making high-quality and exquisite yachts that consistently garner high ratings and recommendations for awards. Alden boasts an extensive range, but given the age of the company, potential buyers should note that many of the secondhand items on the market may be quite old, and may therefore be in need of repair or refurbishment.
